My name is Marat Berenstein + I live in New York. I was born in soviet Ukraine, raised in south Brooklyn + spent a few years in suburban Ohio. I received my Bachelor’s from Columbia, where I met the legendary Art Garfunkel + got my start in music as his assistant!
My first adventure was Hit Me Music. I represented Decon Records + managed Najee The 1 + DB2. Now, I look after Matt FX (Broad City) + Synead (Millions March). We created an original series about food + culture for Food Network/Discovery.
I’m also a retired college professor! I had the honor of serving as faculty at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute from 2012 to 2018, where I ran our feeder programs (Future Music Moguls + Summer HS), developed emerging talent + helped grow the Institute. I taught college-level classes on music licensing/management + invited cool friends to come visit. One magical day, Pharrell showed up + Maggie Rogers was introduced to the world!
More about me in this fun interview w/ Pop Disciple + my mixtape, if you need an Intermission.
